Obituary of Alexander A Hinkley Holley-
Alexander A. Hinkley ("Aleck"), 83, of Holley, New York, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Highland Hospital. He was born in Grayling, Michigan, the son of Daniel and Laura Hinkley, and lived in the area most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked at Eastman Kodak as a pipe fitter for 38 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Holley, where he served as a past Deacon, and he was a former member of the Holley Fire Department. In his spare time, Aleck volunteered for Meals on Wheels, drove for the Orleans County Veterans Transportation Service, and enjoyed his regular morning coffee klatch group at Tim Hortons in Brockport. He was predeceased by his wife, Loleta ("Barney"), daughter, Donna Swanger, and best friend John Helm. He is survived by his beloved friend, Geneva DeMascio; three children, Terry Hinkley Probst, Kim (Roxann) Hinkley, and Tracy (Bill Maier) Hinkley, all of Holley; and eight grandchildren, Butch (Robin) Swanger, Shelly (Paul) Holland, Fred (Jennifer) Probst, Melissa (Charlie) Kinsey, Kevin Hinkley, Alex Hinkley, Tyler Hinkley-Maier, and Alexis Hinkley-Maier. He is also survived by numerous great and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Floyd (Julia) Weatherbee of Georgia, and one sister, Helen Nowak of Holley; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 23, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, 39 Geddes Street, Holley, NY 14470. Services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Holley. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Holley, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the in Aleck's memory.
