(Albion) Ann V. Batt age 95, passed away March 7, 2024 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She was born September 9, 1928 in Fulton NY, a daughter of the late Richard and Gertrude (Rath) Candee and had lived in the Waterport/Albion area since 1948.
Ann was a member of the Gaines Carlton Community Church, Women’s Fellowship and their choir. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #800 and was an active volunteer for the Orleans County ARC. She worked as a clerk for her husband Wilfred at Waterport Post Office and after her husband’s retirement, worked as Postmaster in Fancher, retiring in 1982.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Wilfred; sister Pauline (Edward) Persson; brother James (Ginger) Candee; son-in-law Robin Reed; brother-in-law Robert (Jean) Batt, sisters-in-law Doris (Gordon) Townsend, Marilyn (Charles) Sevor, Eleanor (Laverne) Belson.
She is survived by her children Gail (William) Woodburn, Sue Reed, Kathy (David) Kast, Pauline (Mark) Murphy, Faye (Alan) Burdette, Martha Batt; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday March 21st at 11:00am at the Gaines Carlton Community Church, 14585 Ridge Rd. W, Albion, NY 14411. Interment in Carlton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gaines Carlton Community Church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Albion.
