Ann Scharping Rohland, age 89, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2021 in Elderwood of Brockport with her daughters by her side. Ann graduated from Holley High School and attended Rochester Business Institute and retired from SUNY Brockport. She was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Jewell Buckman American Legion Auxiliary, was an expert knitter and seamstress and loved doing crossword puzzles. Ann was a diehard Buffalo Bills, NY Yankees and Syracuse Basketball fan and loved her family. She was a strong woman who wasn’t afraid to voice her opinion and truly enjoyed hosting large family dinners and holidays.
She was predeceased by her parents: Vernon and Catharine (Hurd) Scharping, her husband Ronald Rohland, whom she was married to for 56 years, and her brother Richard Scharping.
She is survived by her daughters: Pamela Geraci and Roxann (Bob) Taylor, her brother: James Scharping, her grandchildren: Arica (Dave) Morrill, William “Billy” Herring, Allison (Mike) Rhodes, Ashley Taylor and Robby (Erin) Taylor, her great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Jessica Morrill, Madisyn, Hudson and Elodie Taylor as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. Ann’s services will be held privately at a later date in Hillside Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL, 60601 or Autism Speaks, 1060 State Rd. #1446, Princeton, NJ, 08540. Ann’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. of Holley.
