Obituary of Antonino Papalia Kent: Antonino “Tony” Papalia, Died December 30th 2016. Tony was born December 31st 1956 in Lubrichi, a small town in the southern province of Reggio Calabria, Italy. Tony’s parents Ferdinando and Francesca moved him and his 7 siblings to Elmira, New York in 1967. Tony grew up in the city of Rochester and its suburbs until settling in Kent, New York, in 1997 with his wife and children, Susanne, Ferdinando, and Francesca. He spent most of his life self employed as a contractor. Tony took great pride in the quality and detail of his work, always striving for perfection. His business partner and son Ferdinando, will continue the business. When Tony was not painting, building, or talking, he was gardening. His heirloom garlic is what he prided himself on. He made some pretty good wine too. Tony had a love for the Lord like no other, his faith was never ending, even throughout his final days. Tony will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. An artist and teacher to those who knew him. Most memorable, he was an ambassador for Jesus and the Holy gift of Baptism. Acts: 2:38. Tony was predeceased by his father, Ferdinando Papalia, brother, Domenico Papalia, and brother-in-law, Michael McAvoy. Tony is survived by his wife, Susanne, son, Ferdinando Papalia (Julie), daughter, Francesca Papalia, mother, Francesca Papalia, aunt, Maddalena Foti, sisters, Caterina Hilbert (John), Annunciata Merrick (Russell), Maria Disano (Patrick), Rita Casteel (Steve), Rosanna McAvoy, Silvana Kuehne (Kenneth), daughter-in-law, Julie Papalia, grandchildren, Parker and Heidi Roberts, sisters-in-law, Judy Papalia, Angelica Jordan, and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins he loved dearly. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Ave. Albion, Thursday January 5th, from 4:00-8:00pm. Tony’s funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10:00am. Interment in the spring at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Brockport.
