Albion: Arthur “Schultzie” Burger, 62, passed away suddenly November 1, 2022. He was born January 16, 1960 in Paterson, NJ., the beloved son of the late Arthur F. & B. Joyce (Orrell) Burger. Schultzie grew up in Woodcliff Lake NJ. He moved to Waterport with his parents in 1985. After his parents passed away, he moved into the Ross Street Residence in Batavia. He attended the Sheltered Workshop in Albion for many years where he helped assemble jewelry boxes. He belonged to TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and was a featured participant one year for his achievement in this area. In 2018, he moved into the King Street Residence in Albion when his health required a change. Schultzie was naturally happy and enjoyed the company of other people. He loved dogs, especially his German Shepard, Gussie, his boyhood companion. He enjoyed bowling, wrestling magazines and listening to music on his portable player. He enjoyed going to Denny’s with family to celebrate special days. He loved Mountain Dew. Schultzie spent many happy days at Roth St. in Batavia and King St. in Albion, where he was well cared for.
He is survived by his aunt and uncle, Mary Janet & Kash Sahukar; cousins, Anil (Ellen Blair) Sahukar, Anita (Grant) Platt, Shaun (Maria) Sahukar, Sheila (the late Thomas) Lennox, Patrick Sahukar, Leah Platt, Sophia and Diego Sahukar, Benjamin and Kiran Lennox.
A calling hour will be Friday, November 11, 2022, from 6-7 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home 21 W. Avenue, Albion. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to the Western New York DDSO Group Homes at 22 Ross St. Batavia, NY 14020 or 115 King St. Albion, NY 14411.
