Obituary of Barbara J. Lewis ~~ Barbara J. Lewis age 72 died unexpectedly on August 23, 2017. Shewas born April 3, 1945 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late George and May (Falkenhagen) Near and had lived in this area most of her life. She loved going to American Bandstand in Buffalo, where she met her husband and love of her life, Elbin. She worked as a housekeeper for many years at Arnold Gregory Hospital. She enjoyed knitting and ceramics and loved spending time with her family and friends. ~~Barbara was predeceased by her husband Elbin of 51 years and her brother David Near. She is survived byher 4 sons, Tim (Linda) Lewis of Albion, Patrick (Mary) Lewis of TN, Byron (Stacie) Lewis of MI, Alvin Lewis of Albion; grandchildren Tony and Ryan Mayes, Quinton, Kristina (Reed) Heidemann, Ashley, Nathan, Brianna, Caitlyn, Ally, Seth, Lauren; great-granddaughter Emmaline;siblings, Mark (Brenda) Near, Gail Wojcieszak, Debbie Near, Karen Peterson, Chrissy Brunck as well and several nieces, nephews and cousins. ~~The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Ave. Albion on Monday August 28th from 3-7 where her Funeral Service will follow at 7pm. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
