Barbara M. Parker, age 88 formerly of North Main Street, died 4/5/2014 in The Villages of Orleans following a short illness. She was born 10/7/1925 in Holley to Melvin and Ruth(Adams)Downey and was a lifetime resident of this area. Barbara worked as a waitress in many local restaurants but her life revolved around her home and her family. She will be remembered fondly by her family as a very generous person and a loving mother. Mrs. Parker was predeceased by her husband Donald, brother: John Downey, and sisters: Marilyn Potter, Shirley Neale. She is survived by her sons: Craig(Kathleen)Parker of Holley, Scott(Janine)Parker of Holley, her daughter: Penelope(Ed)Steuber of Albion, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. There are no prior calling hours. Private service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Open Door Mission, 156 Plymouth Ave N, Rochester, NY 14608. Arrangements were made by Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. of Holley. Barbara's family would like to thank the staff from the Villages of Orleans and the caregivers from Tender Loving Care for the kindness and compassion which they've shown while taking care of Barbara during these past few years.
