Obituary of Benedetto N. Midea Ben Midea, 76, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, April 8th in Leesburg, Florida. Born to the late Stella and Antonio Midea on August 27, 1941, Ben was raised in Filmore/Warsaw, New York. He graduated from Warsaw Central School in 1960 and then attended the Simmons School of Embalming. He proudly served in the US Army from 1964-1966 during the Vietnam War. Ben lived most of his adult life in Albion, New York with his wife Sharon (Monteleone) and daughter Theresa, working as a funeral director and later as a painter for the New York State Department of Corrections. Ben was active in the Knights of Columbus, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight and served as Grand Knight, and was one of the founding members of COVA in the 1970s. Ben was an avid fisherman and golfer, and enjoyed woodworking, bowling, and playing cards. He spent countless hours enjoying coffee with friends at the Apollo and Village House. Papa took great pride in his family and enjoyed his ability to be his grandchildren's taxi service. All those who knew Ben understood that he was always right. He was predeceased by his sister Jean Midea Gardner, brother Domenico Midea, brothers-in-law Paul Gardner and Sam Monteleone, and sister-in-law Liz Midea. Ben is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Theresa McClellan, son-in-law Herbert McClellan, grandchildren Chelsea, Zachary (Erin), and Samantha McClellan, and several nieces and nephews. He was a beloved member of both the Albion and Lady Lake communities, and will be dearly missed by his friends and family members. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish in Albion on Saturday, April 28th at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ben's name to the Orleans County Joint Veterans Council (van transportation), 13996 Rte. 31 W. Albion NY 14411 or an Orleans County Volunteer EMS of one's choice.
