Bertha H. Eckert Clute

Obituary of Bertha H. Eckert Clute Bertha H. (Sherman) Clute, age 86, of Gasport, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane. Born August 25, 1926 in Cambria, Bertha is the daughter of the late Warren and Ethel (Smith) Eckert. Bertha had worked at Odd Fellow and Rebekahs Health Care Facility in Lockport as a nurse’s aide and personal care nurse. She retired in 1969. She married Perry L. Sherman June 6, 1942. Mr. Sherman died in 1974. She married Donald Clute February 12, 1977 in Lockport. Mr. Clute died in November 2, 1995. Bertha enjoyed gardening, and taking care of her home. She loved camping and being in nature. She was happiest when her children and grandchildren were all together. Bertha was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Tonawanda. She had lived in Gasport for 30 years, previously of Wilson, NY. Surviving are her children: Joanne (David) Baker of Hemet, CA, James Sherman of Kenmore, Bonnie Blake of North Tonawanda, Diane (Alexander) Nalzynski of North Tonawanda, Dennis (Lyn) Sherman of Woodland Park, Colorado and Wendy (Edward) Sulowski of North Tonawanda. She was predeceased by a daughter: Linda Sherman. Step-mother of: Jon Clute, Walter Clute and Susan Clute. Sister of: Anna (Lauren) Budde of Appleton and the late Gertrude Becken, Nancy Eckert and Richard Eckert. Bertha is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 10 am until 12 noon.
