Obituary of Betty Doherty Marlor ) Betty Doherty Marlor, an English teacher retired from the Albion Schools, died peacefully on Sunday, June 5, just days after her 91st birthday. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, to Wallace and Janet ( Mitchell) McCausland. A graduate of Schenley High School there, Betty attended the University of Pittsburgh. On the 4th of July, 1941, she married her high school sweetheart, Hamilton Doherty, at St. John's Church in Buffalo, where he was attending law school. They moved to Eagle Harbor in 1952 and the Village of Albion in 1960. She completed her teaching degree at Brockport State in 1962 and subsequently taught sophomore English for twenty years in Albion. Hamilton Doherty died in 1977. He was the Orleans County judge at the time of his death. In 1982 , Betty married Thomas Sanford Marlor and moved to Grass Valley, CA. He died in 1992. She returned to Western New York in March of 2008. Over the years she had been a member of the Young Women's Service Club, the Twig Association of Arnold Gregory Hospital and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Betty was a key sister of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, a connection shared with her daughter and granddaughter. She was a member and vestryperson of the Christ Episcopal Church in Albion; and a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley.
