Caldon Scott McCollum

Obituary of Caldon Scott McCollum Caldon S. McCollum, of Gasport, passed suddenly on Saturday, June 29th, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Born December 21, 1992, he was the cherished son of Dale (Jane) McCollum, of Gasport and Kathleen McCollum (nee Enderby) of Clarence, NY. Cal attended school in Gasport and Royalton Hartland High School but later graduated from Clarence Central School. He was an outstanding athlete at both Roy-Hart and Clarence High Schools where he enjoyed playing football. Cal loved working with his family at McCollum Farms, in Gasport, where he played a pivotal role in planting and harvesting their crops. John Deere was his absolute favorite brand and he would anxiously await any opportunity to operate the latest green machinery that arrived at the farm. He had also recently planted a vineyard behind his home in Gasport and had aspirations of becoming a winemaker and opening a winery with his mother. Outside of work at the farm, Cal sought adventures of many sorts. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt and fish with his dad, brothers, Grandpa McCollum and friends. He also loved to work on pickup trucks with his buddies and was always eager to make his truck look and perform better. Riding ATV’s, dirt bikes and snowmobiles was another passion of Cal’s that he shared with his family and friends. Listening to his favorite country music, attending outdoor concerts and other large group events were some of the things that Cal thoroughly enjoyed. He especially loved dogs and had just recently acquired two Labrador puppies. Besides his parents, Cal will be dearly missed by his two brothers; Christopher McCollum and Joseph Nolan, both at home; grandparents, Gary and Susanne McCollum of Gasport and James (Karen) Enderby of Medina. He was predeceased by his grandmother Maggie Enderby. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles; David (Cindy) McCollum, Barbara (Michael) Outten and Connie Soemann, all of Gasport, Tim (Susan) Enderby, Michael (Karen) Enderby, and Thomas (Erika) Enderby, all of Medina, Cousins; Jennifer, Elizabeth, Amanda, Emily, Aaron and Aidan McCollum and Jessica (James) Schimek, Adam (Shannon), Abram, Timothy, Sarah and Melissa Outten, Jeffrey and Stephen Soemann, Haley, Mitchell, and Charlie Enderby, and countless dear friends. Relatives and friends may call Friday, July 5th, 2-4 and 6-9 PM in Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6th, at 10:00 AM, in the Chapel at Crosspoint, 500 Crosspoint Parkway in Getzville. Interment will be in Orangeport Cemetary, Gasport, NY. Memorials may be made to the Niagara County 4-H program or a conservation club within Niagara County.
