Obituary of Catherine A. Alvut Catherine A. Alvut, age 73, died July 31, 2016 at Unity Hospital following a short illness surrounded by her loving family. Cathy was born December 5, 1942 in Rochester and has lived in this area most of her life. Cathy was President of the Holley Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, a life member of St. Mary’s Athletic Club in Albion, a member of the Holley VFW Post #202 and Jewell Buckman Post #529 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler, golfer and had marched with the Night Watch Drum and Bugle Corps and also the Sheret Post #35 American Legion color guard. Cathy had worked as an LPN for Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital, Rochester General Hospital, Holley Central School, Lakeside Memorial Hospital ER, Cupola Nursing Home and for Dr. Mehta’s Office in Brockport. Cathy had also worked as the district baker for Albion Central Schools and also as a corrections officer for the Albion Jail. Cathy was predeceased by her parents Pauline and Stanley Kaniecki. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Richard “Dick”; her dog Shadow; her daughter’s (also known as the six pack), Tina (Michael) Downey of Hamburg, Mary (Skip Brien) Dewey of Holley, granddaughters Paige (AJ Keiffer) Brien of Kendall, Tia Brien of Holley; Penny (Sean) Kavanagh of Holley, granddaughter Angelica Kavanagh; Dawn (Norm Henhawk) Dewey of Kent, granddaughter Corina (Jeffery Stonewell II) DeFilipps of Holley, great-grandchildren Leila Stonewell, Jeffery Stonewell III; Charlene Ann (Michael) Schicker of TN, granddaughters Gabrielle Elizabeth and Nicole Mariah Schicker; Mariah (Dennis) Boyko of Holley, grandchildren Brooke and Dylon Boyko; sister Joanne (David Postle) Monacelli of Barre; niece Terri Monacelli of MA, nephew Charlie Monacelli of Albion; half sisters Lynn Keller of Rochester and Linda Spath of Rochester. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 State Route 31 Holley on Friday 4-7 where her Memorial Service will follow at 7pm. Memorials may be made to the Holley Fire Department, 7 Thomas St. Holley NY 14470.
