Obituary of Chet Wheelock Kent, NY: Eldred Guy “Chet” Wheelock, age 88, passed away on February 13, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living Residence in Brockport where he resided with his wife, Audrey for the last 3 years. Chet was born January 21, 1931 in Batavia to the late Chester and Vivian (Robbins) Wheelock. Chet was a self-employed farmer for 34 years and worked for 10 years at the Orleans County Highway Dept., before retiring and becoming a snowbird for the next 19 years. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed golfing and playing shuffleboard. During his life, he served on the Carlton Zoning Board, the Milk Co-Op in Batavia, various other farm organizations and was a charter member of the Kendall Lions Club. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Bertha and Irene. Chet is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Audrey (McGee) Wheelock, children, Peggy (Joseph) Bropst of Kent, Marcia (Robert) Murphy of Kimbolton, OH, Ronald Wheelock of Kent, Jill (Fabian) Strong of Hayward, CA, grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy) Mikels of Webster, NY, Adam (Kristin) Mikels of Westwood, MA, Stacey Bell of Hayward, CA, Andrew Wheelock of Kent, Rebecca Wheelock of Greece, great-grandchildren, Mason, Colton, and Nora Mikels, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at the Gaines-Carlton Community Church, 14585 Ridge Rd. Albion, NY 14411, on Sunday, February 17th from 2:00-4:00pm where his funeral service will be held immediately following at 4:00pm. Interment will be held at Beechwood Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions in Chet’s name may be made to the church or to Hospice of Orleans P.O. Box 489, Albion, NY 14411.
