Clare Strimple

Obituary of Clare Strimple Alden NY: Clare Barnard Strimple, age 91, died December 20, 2014 in Brockport, NY. She was born August 22, 1923 in Wayside, NJ, a daughter of the late James and Mae Barnard. She was predeceased by her sister, Doris (Thomas) Sloey, brother, James (Evelyn) Barnard and husband Dale Keith Strimple. Clare held several jobs in her lifetime but had only one career of which she was most proud, that of a devoted wife to Dale and loving mother to her 5 children, David, Barry (Leigh), Dale Jr. (Jean), Teresa (James) Arent and Dennis (Elizabeth). Clare was on a train returning to her home in Rochester from a visit with her cousin in NJ when she met a young serviceman , Dale Strimple. Dale was on leave traveling to Buffalo to visit his family. It was love at first sight and Dale got off the train with Clare in Rochester. They were married just 3 weeks later, 4/3/1943 and were married for 55 years prior to Dale's death in 1998. Clare was the proud grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 18. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Clare lived most of her life in Alden, NY and was an active member of the Alden Presbyterian Church for many years. In her later years she volunteered with the Alden Chapter of Meals on Wheels.
