Obituary of Daniel Robert Smith Albion: Daniel R. “Danny” Smith, age 76, passed away on September 27, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital with his niece and step-son by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 25, 1942 in Newport, RI to the late Charles and Betsy (Pinto) Smith. Danny served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed working and going out to eat to various restaurants including his favorite, Sam’s Diner in Holley. He spent time gardening with all kinds of plants around his house. Danny worked as a cook for the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years and more recently painting with his step-son Brian, something he really loved doing. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Edna Mundt, Charlie and Stevie Smith. Danny is survived by his loving and caring niece, Betsy Meisenzahl, step-son, Brian Connor, siblings, Anna (Tony) Perry, Ernie Smith, Johnny Smith as well as his beloved dogs, Zip and Ty. Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
