Albion: After a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's disease, David Charles “Ace” Albanese, age 81, decided it was time to finally rest. On March 3, 2025, with his family by his side, he closed his eyes and is finally pain-free and at peace with the Lord. David was born July 24, 1943, in Albion, a son of the late Dominic J. Albanese I and Clara (Schiavi) Albanese. David was a 1961 graduate of DeSales Catholic High School. After graduating, David joined the United States Air Force serving from 1961-1965 and was a member of the Sheret Post #35 American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Albanese was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church and the Knights of Columbus, Albion Council #1330. He began his employment at Albanese’s Greenhouses in his youth and later was a co-owner of Albanese’s Restaurant and in 1981 was instrumental in bringing Cable TV to Orleans County. David served as Trustee and later became Mayor for the Village of Albion in the 1980’s and 90’s. He also served as Deputy Superintendent for the Orleans County Highway Dept., from which he retired in the late 1990’s. After retirement, he co-founded Albanese Rare Coins where he worked alongside his four children for many years pursuing his passion for rare coins.

David was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Nicolo Albanese, his brothers Daniel and Dennis Albanese and sister Dolores Albanese.

David's entire world was his family and they were who gave him the strength to fight for over 13 years. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Theresa, his four children, Dominic J. Albanese II, Darrin Albanese, Robyn Moore, and Dean Albanese; his nine grandchildren: Makaila, Carmine, and Sophia Albanese, Kaleigh Albanese, Summer and Nathaniel Moore, Dominic, Marella, and David Albanese. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald and Francis Albanese, sisters, Donna Gates, Diana Stone and Dorothy Albanese along with several aunts and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

David’s family will receive family and friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home 21 W. Avenue, Albion, NY on Friday, March 7, from 4:00-7:00PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church on Saturday, March 8, at 11:00AM. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH., 45250-0301.
