Deborah H. Merlin (Hinkley)

Deborah H. Merlin, 72, of Gasport, passed away suddenly November 15, 2021 at her home. She was born October 21, 1949 in Sharon PA., a daughter of the late Carl and Agnes (Brauen) Hinkley. Deborah was an active member and held various positions at the Hartland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling to visit family, reading and the Buffalo Bills. Her greatest joy was doing activities with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Vincent J. “Butch” Merlin III.

Deborah is survived by her children, Jennifer (Larry Perry) Merlin of Silver Creek and Vincent J. (Bobbie) Merlin IV of Gasport; grandchildren, Alura (Tom) Steel, Sierra (Cody Walsh) Quagliano, Rylee (Brianna) Quagliano, Carolyn Merlin, Vincent J. “Jack” Merlin V, David Merlin, Derek Merlin and Stephanie Blair-Perry; great-grandchildren, Everly and River Steel, Avery Walsh and Lilly Lamb; siblings, Saundra Gilcrist, Kent (Dale Merlin) Hinkley, Carol (Burdette) Gage and Sheila (Marc) Simmons; several nieces, nephews, cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St. Middleport on Thursday November 18, from 4-7pm. Her funeral service will be held at Hartland United Methodist Church, 8017 Ridge Rd., Gasport, NY 14067 on Friday November 19, at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Hartland Central Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hartland United Methodist Church.
