Obituary of Dianne L. Jewell (HOLLEY)
Dianne L. “Mia” Jewell, age 69 of Hulberton Road, died 6/21/2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born 5/5/1947 in Albion to Christy and Beatrice (Hinkley) DeFilippo and was a lifetime resident of this area. Mia was a member of St. Mary’s Church and was one of the original organizers of the Holley Sports Boosters. She enjoyed collecting angels, loved the beauty of hummingbirds and butterflies, and loved doing yard work as well as attending to her flowers. Mia also enjoyed her trips to the casino to play the slot machines. She had worked for 29 years in the Holley Central School System, first as a Teacher’s Aide and then retiring after 12 years of driving a school bus. Mia was very devoted to her family but was also considered as “Grandma” to many neighborhood children and many school children who she watched grow up through the years on her bus route. Mrs. Jewell was predeceased by her son: David Jewell. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ronald Sr., their children: Ronald (Amy) Jewell Jr. of Holley, Randy (Rachel Edwards) Jewell of Greece, Christopher (Meghan Montague) Mitchell of Greece, Khoa (Colleen) Bui of Pittsburgh, PA, My Hanh Bui of Webster, Hong Hanh Bui of Webster, her brother: Robert DeFilippo of Gates, sisters: Patricia (Frank) Long of Holley, Chris (Dave) Brooks of Holley, 4 grandchildren: Ronly, Lauren, Annie, Lily, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 State Route 31 (West Albion Road)-Holley, SUNDAY from 1-5 p.m. Mia’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held MONDAY 10am in St. Mary’s Church-Holley. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans, P.O.
