Obituary of Donald A. Parker (HOLLEY)
Donald A. Parker, 87 of Holley, died Wednesday November 30, 2011 at Lakeside Memorial Hospital in Brockport. He was born January 27, 1924 in Holley, the only child of the late Alfred E. and Marjorie Turner Parker. Don grew up on Bernard Street, in the Town of Greece and graduated in 1943 from John Marshall High School. He enlisted in the US Army in January 1943 and served as a medic with the 449th Bomb Group, 717 Bomb Squadron, which flew B-24 Liberators our of North Africa and later Southern Italy. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1981 after 35 years of employment. During his lifetime, Don had many interests. He was an avid reader of historical and political books. He built and flew his own experimental aircraft, and flew his 1942 Interstate for a number of years. But to those who knew him well, it was his devotion to his family, and his selfless care-giving to others that will be his legacy. He was our hero.
