Obituary of Donald J. Pyskaty Donald J. “Ski” Pyskaty Sr., “Prince of Garlic”, age 72, of Barker, entered into rest on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Buffalo General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born November 20, 1938 in North Tonawanda, NY, he was the son of the late Edward S. and Katherine (Maziarz) Pyskaty. Don graduated from DeSales Catholic High School in 1956. He married Carolyn Brigham July 24, 1965 at the Johnson Creek Church in Middleport. They had been married for 46 years. Don served his country in the US Army from 1961 until 1963 achieving the rank of specialist 4th class. Although Don was a “farmer at heart,” he worked at Packaging Corp of America in Lockport (later called Jamestown Container Corp.) from 1958 until 2001 when he retired. Once retired, “Ski” maintained and sold excellent strains of garlic and grew wonderful vegetables. He enjoyed collecting Farmall tractors. Don was a member of the Barker American Legion, member of the Relay for Life Team, “The Soda Jerks”, and an avid outdoorsman. He was a proud member of the NYS Big Buck Club. Don is survived by his wife, Carolyn and two dear sons: Dr. Donald James (Crystal) Pyskaty Jr. of Petaluma, California and Jeffrey William (Beth) Pyskaty of Lockport. Loving grandfather of: Michael, Matthew and Daniel Pyskaty and step grandfather of: Ricky Dos Santos. Brother of: Regina Potwora of Niagara Falls and the late Velma Ewald. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many special friends including Neal Gordon, a friend to the end. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 7-9 pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 11:00 am with the Reverend Wayne Dent officiating. Interment will be in Orangeport Union Cemetery, Gasport, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the American Cancer Society c/o Relay to Life “Soda Jerks”
