Doris P. Kelley

Gaines: Doris P. Kelley, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024 at the Martin-Linsin Hospice Residence with her family by her side. She was born November 21, 1933 in the Town of Gaines, a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Doolan) Perry and had lived in this area all of her life.

In her younger years, Doris was a 4H leader and a Den Mother for her sons’ Cub Scout Den. After staying home to raise her 3 children she worked as a Municipal Bookkeeper and Water Clerk for the Town of Gaines and was an Assistant to the Assessor in both Albion and Gaines. The focus for Doris and her late husband Cliff was always family. They led and loved with grace and kindness and instilled this in their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and anyone that was fortunate to cross their path. 

 In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her loving husband Clifford, with whom she was inseparable. She was also predeceased by her son William; sisters Margaret Perry, Maude Perry, Anna Doolan; brother George Perry and her granddaughter Elicia Kelley.

 Doris is survived by her children, Scott (Tina) Kelley, Janet (Al) Cheverie; daughter-in-law Tammy Kelley; grandchildren Elizabeth Capurso, Steven (Heather) Kelley, Kerry (Stephen) Miller, Brian Kelley, Cindy Kelley, Ashleigh (Justin) Crawshaw, Andrew Cheverie, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Doris' family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home 21 West Ave.on Friday August 16th from 4:00pm-7:00pm where her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:30am. Interment will follow in Mt. Albion Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Doris' name may be made to Hospice of Orleans.
