Obituary of Doris Jean Ralph Jean Ralph (Shickler) passed away peacefully on October 22, 2014 at Hospice of Orleans in Albion, NY.
Born November 8, 1927 in Buffalo, NY she was the daughter of Carl and Anne Shickler and was one of six siblings.
Jean married her husband George J. Ralph in l947 and together they raised their family of nine children in Middleport, NY.
Jean was an avid reader, student of the Bible and a sharp player of word games. She enjoyed her summers with many family gatherings at her Lake Ontario cottage where she loved swimming and teaching all her children to swim.
Jean also worked for a time at Fisher Price, Ames Department Store and Curry's Dress Shop in Medina.
After retirement she spent many winters in Florida. For the last fifteen years Jean lived with her beloved sister Ruthie Ogle. They enjoyed their years together in Clarendon, NY exploring local historical sites, visiting farm markets and estate sales. Her strong faith in God was demonstrated by her generosity and great love of her family and friends.
Jean was the loving mother of Jud Ralph of Middleport, Ann (Martin) Busch of Middleport, Carol (Joel) Babcock of Barker, James Ralph of Middleport, Donald (Betty) Ralph of Lyndonville, Marc (Michelle) Ralph of Medina, Michael (LeeAnn) Ralph of Cape Coral, FL and Gordon Ralph of Lockport. She is also survived by her beloved sister Ruthie Ogle, daughter-in-law Florence Ralph, dear friend Mary Rokitka and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband George J. Ralph, her son John Ralph, two brothers Howard and Robert Shickler and two sisters, Lois Prince and Mary Ann Lovell.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, November 7, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street, Middleport, NY where a memorial service will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00AM with the Rev. Chad Wirth officiating.
Memorial contributions to Orleans County Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
Burial in Hartland Central Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
