Obituary of Earl W. Thiel Albion: With sadness, the family of Earl Thiel, shares his passing on February 27, 2018, at 88. His wife of 50 years, Maxine predeceased him in 2003. Together they raised and are survived by their 6 children, Bonny (Al) Clay, Vicki (Pete) Stranges, Steven (Patty), Larry, Randall and Lorie (Lee) Smith. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, Jaclyn, Nicholas, David and Hanna, 3 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Colson and Jonas. His grandson, Collin, also predeceased him in 1998. He was born, raised and lived his whole life in the Albion area. He served in the U.S. Army from January 1949 to September 1952, and upon his discharge married in November 1952. His life always revolved around his work and family. Dad was not a collector of things, but he had a love of carpentry, so he preferred doing and making things for his family. He remodeled on his own the home we grew up in. He also built shelves, shadow boxes, cabinets, and too many things to mention. His biggest enjoyment were the toys he made, including a swing set, rocking horses, and a train set (mom always did the decorating). If you knew him as a friend you know he was a kind and gentle man and a true friend. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Earl’s memorial service will be held Saturday March 3rd at 1:00pm at the Gaines Carlton Community Church 14585 Ridge Rd. Albion, NY, 14411. Interment in Waterport Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to the church.
