Earlene Mathews

Obituary of Earlene Mathews Earlene Mathews, 83, died June 24, 2013 at Medina Memorial Hospital. She was born in Dozier, Alabama to Jesse and Rosie Cauley and was the youngest of ten children. She married Arvester Mathews on January 1, 1950 and moved to Niagara Falls, NY so her husband could find work. She was a devoted wife and mother to her son Danny while also pioneering for the Congregation of Jehovah. In 1952 the family moved to Buffalo, and then to Albion in 1967 where she continued to serve Jehovah as a regular and later as an Auxiliary Pioneer until they moved back to Alabama in 1999. She was predeceased by her husband. She leaves behind a son Danny (Salena) Mathews of Albion; four grandchildren, Daniel (Sara), Jenove (Mwangi) Thomas, Shawn and Kelly Mathews; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Calling hours will be on Friday, June 28, 2013 from 5-7pm at the Merrill-Grinnell Funeral Home, 12 Ingersoll St., Albion. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness at 2pm. Burial will be in Greenville, Alabama.
