Obituary of Edith Pearl Gilbert Edith Gilbert
Dec 22, 1927 - Mar 17, 2017 Our beautiful Mom has passed with the same grace, strength and dignity she shared throughout her life. Edith P. (Brewer) Gilbert quietly passed away on March 17 while residing at Briodys SNF surrounded with love from her family and warm hearted staff. Mom has now joined her mother, Ruth (Turrell) Ingraham, step-father Russell Ingraham, father Leslie Brewer, sister Dorothy Webber, PJ (her poodle) and her former husband Oliver Gilbert. She was the mother of Judy (Gilbert) McConvey and Susan (Gilbert) Caldwell. She was Grandma Ede to four grandchildren Wade (Terah) McConvey, Jennifer (Jim) Schaffstall, Katherine (Rob) Monson and Michael Caldwell and nine cherished great-grandchildren: Nathan, Conlan and Rowan McConvey, Alex, Olivia and Jack Monson and Audrey, Helen and Claire Schaffstall. Her face would light up with happiness as they brought great joy and much laughter. Ede's siblings are Marie (Ed) Lozaw, Dick (Carol) Ingraham and Terry Ingraham. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Ede obtained her beautician license and worked as a beautician/receptionist at several area beauty salons before working at Harrison's Radiator for 20 years. She loved the purple Saturn car she received as part of her retirement package and it remained her only car thereafter. She will be remembered for her gracious manner, stylish dressing, laughter with her grandchildren and love of working on her landscaping. It was not unusual to see her raking well after dark. She mowed her lawn with a push mower until she was 80. We are forever grateful to the staff at Briodys for so lovingly caring for Mom these past 2 years. Memorials are appreciated for the Alzheimer's Asso. or for Briodys. The best gift is to remember her for her humor and sweet, kind manner. Calling hours are Thursday 3-8PM and service is Friday at 11AM at the Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street Middleport, NY 14105. Please share condolences www.bateswallace.com.
