Obituary of Edward C. Reed (Barre)
Edward C. Reed, age 75 of Oak Orchard Road, died 10/29/2014 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born 9/24/1939 in Batavia to Myron and Margaret (Marshall) Reed and was a life-long resident of this area. Ed was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the Oakfield Rod and Gun Club and a retired NYS Corrections Officer. He was also a member of the Albion Lodge BPO Elks#1006 and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting as well as watching sports on TV. Ed was also an avid golfer. He had a special fondness for animals especially his English Setter "Mike". Mr. Reed was predeceased by his brother Myron "Butch", He is survived by his wife of 40 years Joyce, his children: Ronald(Kathleen)Reed of VA, Scott(Mary)Reed of OH, Deborah(Paul)Reed-Thurston of KY, April Corey-Flesch of Albion, Russell(Colleen)Corey of Churchville, brothers: R.C.(Shirley)Reed of FL, William Reed of Hilton, Daniel Reed of Holley, sisters: Carrie(Mickey)Torrington of AZ, Bernie Scott of AZ, sister-in-law: Lynn Reed-Futty of DE, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Avenue-Albion, SATURDAY 2-5 p.m. where Ed's Funeral Service will be held SUNDAY at 1 p.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans. Visitation
