Obituary of Edward Schalge (WILLIAMSVILLE) Edward M. Schalge, age 97 of Reist Street, died 12/20/2014 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Rochester, NY on 6/14/1917 to William and Eve (Dye) Schalge and had lived in the Western New York area all of his life. Ed was a long-time member of Amherst Lutheran Church where he served on many committees and was an active participant in the Bible Study group until recently when his health started to deteriorate. He was employed by General Motors as a Pattern Maker retiring in 1980. Ed enjoyed golfing and belonged to the Amherst Senior Citizens Golf League. He was also a member of the Pattern Makers League, the Lutheran Businessmen's Association ands was an avid walker. He enjoyed traveling, listening to Paul Harvey and as a gifted craftsman, considered himself a hobbiest. Mr. Schalge was predeceased by his wife Mildred (Johanning) Schalge. He is survived by his son; Gary (Debbie) Schalge of AZ, and his daughter and caregiver Diane Schalge of Williamsville. There are no prior calling hours. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be held in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in Akron privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amherst Lutheran Church, 5125 Main Street, Williamsville, NY, 14221 or to a charity of your choice.
