Obituary of Elaine Banas Albion: Elaine Banas, age 79, passed away peacefully November 19, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born April 25, 1938 in Albion a daughter of the late George and Dorothy (VanStone) Coloney. She was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church. In 1956 she was the Orleans County Queen andalsoin 1956, Elaine graduated from Albion High School as the Salutatorian of her class. Elaine loved playing casino Black Jack, collecting recipes and was an avid cross stitcher. She retired in 2000 as a Corrections Sergeant for the N.Y.S. Dept. of Corrections. She was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Dollinger. Elaine is survived by her husband of 61 years, Eugene, children, Gary Banas of CA, Karen (Dan) Ward of Albion, Robert Banas of Albion, and Linda (Arthur) Zeh of Saratoga Springs; grandchildren, Daniel and Justin Ward, Olivia and Erica Zeh; brother, George (Jennifer) Coloney of FL. sister, Carol (Bob) Evans of FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue, Albion, on Tuesday November 21, from 5:00-7:00. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home on Wednesday November 22, at 9:30 for prayers, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church at 10:00am.
