Obituary of Elinor L. Gorrow Elinor L. Gorrow of Middleport passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport site. Mrs. Gorrow was born in the Town of Hartland on July 22, 1922 daughter of the late R. Alonzo "Lonnie" and Augusta (Landers) Scarborough. Mrs. Gorrow has lived in Middleport all of her life. She graduated from Middleport High School in l940. She and her husband Donald Gorrow were married on July 13, 1943 and wintered in Bradenton, Florida since l992. Known locally as a china p ainter, Mrs. Gorrow was a past president and one of the founders of Towpath China Painters. She was president of the New York State Federation of china painters in l979 and l980 and was a former President of the Niagara Arts Guild and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In Florida she was a member of the Music Club and Sewing Club. She was also a former Sunday School Teacher, Cub Scout Leader and 4-H leader. Mrs. Gorrow was a member of the Middleport United Methodist Church and an associate member of the Oneco Methodist Church in Bradenton, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband Donald C. Gorrow in l997 and a daughter Terry Ann Gorrow and her siblings Edna Kempton and Elton Scarborough. She is survived by her children Linda (Robert) Baldwin of Fairfield, California, Gary (Carole) Gorrow of Middleport, Judy (Patrick) Balkin of Lockport, Wayne (Charlene) Gorrow of Meridan, Mississippi; her grandchildren Jennifer (Brian) DeVallance of Washington, DC, Sean Gorrow of Portland, Oregon, Megan Balkin of Lockport, Cathy (Kevin) Gordon of Liverpool, NY., Michelle Parker of Middleport and Jon Conners of Medina. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM with the Rev. James Knapp officiating. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
