Obituary of Elizabeth Murphy Albion: Elizabeth S. Murphy age 87, died at her home August 1, 2013. She was born May 16, 1926 in Binghamton NY a daughter of the late William and Julia (Haley) Sullivan. Betty had lived most of her life in the area and was a member of Holy Family Parish. She earned her Bachelor's degree in teaching from State University of New York at Cortland and her Master's degree in Administration from St. Bonaventure. Betty was a Physical Education teacher at the Albion Primary School for many years. She and her late husband John, were avid golfers and enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach SC.
She was predeceased by her husband John in 2005; son, Patrick "Spud" in 2012; brother, Thomas; sisters, Mary and Julie. She is survived by her children, Colin "Pete" (Kathy) of FL., Michael J. of MD., Colleen M. (Phil) McKenna of Albion, Mark J.(Polly) of Albion, William F. (Cindy) of Greece; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, John W. Sullivan of MA; daughter-in-law, Carol Gray Murphy of Albion; several nieces, nephews, cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Avenue Albion, SUNDAY from 1:00-3:00 & 5:00-7:00. Betty's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph's Church, Monday at 11:00am. Interment will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans, P.O.Box 489, Albion NY 14411 or C.O.V.A. Visitation
