Albion: Elizabeth “Liz” Nugent, age 73, died on March 12, 2024, at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo following a short illness. She is the oldest of 12 children of the late Raymond and Esther (Dunbar) Hamilton. She was born on July 12, 1950, in Palmetto, Florida and has been in the Western New York region for most of her life.
In Elizabeth’s spare time, she liked to gamble on the slot machines and go over to Canada to play Bingo. She also worked at Hamlin Beach for many years. You could always catch Liz playing Candy crush on her phone to the point where her fingers would cramp.
Elizabeth is predeceased by her parents, Raymond Hamilton and Esther Dunbar; her brothers, Clarence Dunbar, Dwayne Dunbar, and James Dunbar; her sisters, Lois Ann Taylor Dunbar and Eva Mae Dunbar; and her very close friend, Robert Dixon.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving companion of 36 years, Robert Williams; her three sons, Willie Dunbar, Clarence Dunbar, and Franklin (Tanya) Lewis all from Buffalo, New York; brothers, Gary Dunbar, Rickey Dunbar, and Leverne (Stephanie) Dunbar; sisters, Carolyn Dunbar, Pearl (Alvin) Dunbar- Ware, and Trina Dunbar; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
Elizabeth’s family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Avenue Albion, NY 14411 on Friday March 22, 2024, from 11am-12pm with the service at 12pm. Interment will follow at Mount Albion Cemetery.
