Obituary of Elizabeth Jane Sherrie Elizabeth Jane “Bette” Sherrie (nee Lampe), age 91, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in Lockport. Born August 20, 1927 in Newfane, Bette is the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Aikin) Lampe. Bette was a graduate of Newfane Central Schools. She married Kenneth H. Sherrie May 27, 1946. Ken died September 10, 2003. Together they opened the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home in Newfane and later with their son, Kenneth Sherrie II, the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home in Gasport. They served the community with pride and compassion. Bette is a member of the Newfane United Methodist Church. As a member of the Newfane Senior Citizens, she served as past president for many years. She also went on many trips with her friends at Senior Citizens traveling all over the world. Bette was also a member of the Newfane Mom’s Club. She loved to play cards, watch birds, bake and in her younger years, riding her bike all over Newfane. Bette was an avid Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and NY Knicks fan. Her passion was her family. She loved her grandsons, Trey and Trevor. Spending time with them was her greatest joy. Bette is a lifelong resident of Newfane. Beloved mother of: Kenneth (Gigi) Sherrie II and the late Cynthia Diane Sherrie. Dear grandmother: of Trey and Trevor Sherrie. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Besides her husband and daughter, Bette was predeceased by her sisters: Annette Riemer and Margaret Lampe and a brother: Walter Lampe. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2 pm from the funeral home with the Reverend Kim Smith officiating. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
