Obituary of Ellis D. Means (ALBION) Ellis D. Means, also known as “Heavy”, age 85, died September 27, 2019 in The Villages of Orleans Health & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. He was born March 9, 1934 in Spartanburg, SC and had lived in this area since the early 60’s. Ellis was a United States Army Veteran and was honorably discharged from the Service in December 7, 1955. He worked for many years at Duffy Mott Company in Holley and was also an accomplished Barber. Ellis was also a lover of music and would often be seen in his wheelchair singing a song. He also knew how to play the guitar. According to friends, Ellis was a community minded person and was an advocate for helping people who less fortunate than himself. No immediate family survives him but he leaves behind a Godson: Jason Ellis, close friend: Theresa Smith as well as many other friends, acquaintances, personal advocates and caregivers. Anyone who wishes is invited to attend a Memorial Service for Ellis, WEDNESDAY October 9, 2019 at 12 Noon in the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Avenue-Albion. Military Honors will be conducted by the combined members of the Albion-Holley American Legion, VFW and the Brockport Navy Club. Intermentwill be held at a later date in Pembroke National Cemetery.
