Obituary of Emily Russell Saxton Emily Russell Saxton, age 101, entered into rest at her home on Sunday, February 18, 2018. Born June 18, 1916 in North Tonawanda, Emily is the daughter of the late: John and Josephene (Dombrovski) Medinski. Her family moved to Lockport while she was quite young and there, she spent her formative years attending the city schools and having involvement with the Clinton Street Methodist Church. Coming to the Gasport area in 1955, she resided on Orangeport Road for the past 63 years. In her later years, she attended the Gasport Covenant United Church of Christ. Emily married Fred Loren Saxton on August 27, 1932. Mr. Saxton died August 28, 1979. Emily enjoyed: Emily was an avid reader, kept abreast of world news and contributed to numerous charitable organizations. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and playing the piano and continued these activities until the time of her death. Surviving Emily is her son: Loren Timothy (Margi) Saxton of North Augusta, SC. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Loren (Lisa) Saxton of Greenville, TX, Lucien (Kathleen) Saxton of Monrovia, CA, Leslie (Jonathan) Clough of North Augusta, SC, Larisa (Lee) Gilbert) of Atlanta, GA, Liana (David) Smith of Marietta, GA, Lycia (Stacy) Hiebert) of Beech Island, SC, Louis W. LaPort of Lockport, NY, Seanna (Reuben) Byrd of Niagara Falls, NY, and Clifford (Sara) LaPort of Clary, NC. She leaves 21 great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. She is predeceased by her husband, Fred L. Saxton and daughter, Daisy E. LaPort. Her mother, father, a step-father and two sisters also preceded her in death. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and memorial service on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, NY, 14067. Visitors may arrive at 2:00 PM; the Memorial Service begins at 3:00 PM.
