Obituary of Ethel S. Wells (JAMESTOWN/ALBION) Ethel S. Miner-Wells, passed away August 17, 2018 in The Lutheran Nursing Home in Jamestown, NY. She was born in Murray on January 16,1923, the daughter of the late Harry B. and Anna Gronell Kidney. Ethel was a graduate of Albion High School and the Rochester Business Institute Extension in Batavia. In addition to several years as a homemaker, she was also employed as a bookkeeper/secretary while living in Niagara Falls and Rochester. She enjoyed maintaining her flower gardens as well as the companionship of her pet dogs. After residing primarily in Orleans County for 38 years, Ethel later lived and worked in Rochester. She moved to Florida in 1977, where she resided until 2009, when she returned for health reasons to live with her son in Westfield. While living in Florida, Ethel was a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and was previously active as an officer of the Women of the Moose until her health declined. Ethel was predeceased by her parents, 12 brothers and sisters as well as her first husband, Winston Wells, (who was killed in action in WWII,) and her second husband, Richard Miner. She is survived by her son: Gary Wells of Frewsburg, NY, her daughter: Star Miner (Anthony) Luciano of Clifton Springs, 3 grandsons: Michael Wells of Jamestown, Joshua Wells of Dunkirk, Anthony Luciano of Clifton Springs, 4 great-grandchildren: Sarah, Nolan, Hannah, Alexandra, and numerous nieces and nephews. The Family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Avenue-Albion, THURSDAY from 2-3 where Ethel’s Funeral Service will following visitation at 3 p.m. Interment will be private in Mt. Albion Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the WNY Alzheimer’s Association, 2805 Wehrle Dr., Buffalo, NY, 14221.
