Obituary of Evelyn Collins (ALBION) Evelyn A. Collins age 100 died March 17, 2008.
Born February 17, 1908 to Volney & Marion (Davis) Collins. Miss Collins, a life long resident of Albion, and was employed as a teacher & Librarian for the Albion Central School District for 40 years. She was a 1930 graduate of the University of Rochester with a Bachelor's degree in Classical Language and had a Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Albany.
Miss Collins had many interest in her life, among them was her garden, which she maintained until she was in her late 80's. She was a member of the American Iris Society. Evelyn had a love of literature and was a voracious reader until her passing. She also had an extensive doll collection that included dolls sent to her from around the world by former students. Miss Collins was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Albion from 1922 to the present. Additionally she enjoyed tracing her family tree and was a member of the Orleans Chapter of the D.A.R. Among her notable ancestors was Richard Warren, a Mayflower Compact signer/Plymouth Plantation resident and Gideon Olin, a Governor of Vermont.
