Obituary of Florence Ruhlen Florence (Lipka) Ruhlen, age 91, died in the comfort of her home on August 17, 2012. She was born November 26, 1920 in Buffalo, NY. She was a long-time resident of Barre Center, NY. Over the years she was an active member of the Barre Grange and a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Barre Volunteer Fire Department. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a cherished friend to her neighbors in the Barre community. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting beautiful afghans for all those she loved.
Florence is predeceased by her husband, Maurice, and her two sons, Dwight and Gary. She is survived by her two daughters, Marsha Gottovi and Linda Harrison, two daughter-in-laws Colleen Ruhlen and Bonnie Ruhlen, as well as two sisters Charlotte Jakubowski and Gertrude Walters. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and their spouses, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 10:00am, Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish in Albion, NY, followed by a reception at the Barre Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the or Hospice of Orleans, Inc .
