Obituary of Fred K. Babcock Death Notice Guide us as we walk this way With the promise of a brand-new day On Friday November 16th, after a short hospital stay, Fred K. Babcock passed away peacefully. Fred was born on July 2nd, 1940 and lived in the Albion area all his life. Throughout his life, Fred worked many jobs, including working as a residential house painter, a paid Albion firefighter, a taxi and ambulance driver for Dick O'Hearn, a Village of Albion Trustee, a sales person for Landauer’s, a car salesman for Crown Motors and Engle-Harrison Motors, a worker for the Canal Corporation, a maintenance man for Arnold Gregory Hospital, a worker for Watts Orchards, a newspaper delivery man, and he worked in the orchards for Ed Archbald. Fred counted among some of his favorite memories, days traveling up and down the canal. While working for Watt’s farms, he continued to enjoy working outdoors. During the summer months he rarely visited with family without a basket of whatever fruit or vegetable was in season. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Gertrude Babcock. His brothers; Carl Jr., Ralph and John, his former spouse, Helen S. Babcock, and his grandson, Matthew Gardner. Fred is survived by his children, Jackie (Mark Dunham) Gardner, and Gregory L. (Tammy Nenni) Babcock, and granddaughters, Sarah and Elizabeth Gardner, and Jordan (Chris Ray) Babcock, his step-children; Dana (Cheryl), Laurie (Karen Hess), and John (Sharon) Gavenda, his step-grandchildren, Adam (Mariellie Morales) Gavenda, Molly (Josh Chmiel) Gavenda, and Step-great-grandchildren, Tristan and Eliana Gavenda. Fred is also survived by his siblings, Frank (Mickey) Babcock, Harold (Barbara) Babcock, and Lillian (Lloyd) Moore. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Ave. Albion on Wednesday, November 21st, from 4:00-6:00pm where his Memorial Service will follow at 6:00pm.
