Obituary of Frederick W. Parsons Frederick William "Bill" Parsons, 82, of Albion, N.Y., died on March 3, 2013 at Lakeside Memorial Hospital, Brockport, N.Y. Bill was born on June 26, 1930 in Albion, N.Y., to Meryl (Skinner ) and Harold Parsons. He grew up in the Albion area, living with his mother, two sisters and grandfather in Carlton, N.Y. He earned a scholarship to Bucknell University, which he attended for one year before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, which he served for 20 years as an air traffic controller.
While he was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base, Colorado, he met Carolyn A. Huser, a WAC "airman." The couple married on Jan. 21, 1955 at Lowry AFB. They were stationed in many parts of the world, including Indiana, California, Bermuda, New York, Japan, Kansas, Labrador and Georgia. Their family grew to include three children. Bill retired from the Air Force in 1970 and became an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration in West Palm Beach, Florida. He worked for the FAA for 18 years before retiring. He and Carol continued to live in Florida until Carol's death in 2004, Bill returned to New York state, where he lived at The Landing in Brockport. Bill was a patriot and a decorated veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He and Carol were both proud members of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bill also was a member of MENSA, ever the brainiac until dementia began to steal his mental prowess in his later years.
