George Meredith

Obituary of George Meredith (Holley) George S. Meredith age 79 died June 17, 2014 at Unity Hospital after a battle with a long illness. He was born October 5, 1934 in Buffalo, NY a son of the late Francis and Ann (Sullivan) Meredith and had lived in this area since the 1970's. George had served in the US Navy and the US Air Force and was a member of the Holley American Legion Jewell Buckman Post #529. He was also a member of St. Mary's Church. He worked as a sheet metal operator at Eastman Kodak, retiring from there in 1991. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his wife Lorraine in 2012; sisters Ann Plucinsky and Mary Nugent. He is survived by his children David (Hazel) Meredith of Stratford CT, Paul (Shirley) Meredith of Ripley NY, Karen (Masamitsu) Dawley of Holley, Kelly Meredith of Holley, Karol Meredith of Holley; grandchildren Jeff Diehl, Dustin Meredith, Heather (Russell) Ewing, Paula Meredith, Jason Meredith, Samantha Meredith, Dale (Gina) Fletcher; several great-grandchildren; brothers Jackie Meredith of Buffalo, Francis Meredith of NC; sisters Jeanette (Rosario) DiLorenzo of Lancaster NY, Charlotte (John) Niziol of Alden NY, Janice (Robert) Turnbull of Alden NY, Cathy (Donald) Bielefield of Lancaster NY, Eileen Thomas of Buffalo, Patricia (Paul) Stankoweicz of Sanborn NY, Maureen (Francis) Modoffari of Geneva NY; brothers-in-law Ed Plucinsky, Earl Nugent both of Grand Island as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 State Route 31(W. Albion Rd.) Holley Saturday 10:00am-12:00pm followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church at 12:30pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Following his calling hours at St. Mary's Church at 12:30pm. Interment
