Georgia L. Babcock

Gasport: Georgia L. Babcock, age 93, passed away October 29, 2023 at Elderwood at Lockport. She was born March 1, 1930 in Shinglehouse, PA to the late George and Geraldine (Foote) Washburn.

Georgia was a great cook, often cooking dinner for several family members when they came over. She loved gardening and growing various types beautiful flowers. She put a pool in at her home where her children and grandchildren could gather during the summer to swim even though she never swam a day in her life.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Irwin “Bud” Babcock, sisters, Wanda, Deedee, Sue, and Sharon, daughters-in-law, Debbie and Sue as well as her grandson, Joe Udell.

Georgia is survived by her children, Mike (Noreen) Babcock, Linda (Jim) Sowaskie, Joel (Carol) Babcock and Bart Babcock, Brett Babcock, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Georgia’s life will be held on Saturday, November 11th from 1:00-4:00 at the Oak Room 4185 Lake Ave. Lockport, NY 14094.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

Georgia’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home of Gasport, NY.
