Obituary of Gertrude Hofert Mose Gertrude Mose (Hofert), age 85, of South Daytona, FL, formerly of Geneva, NY, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Friday, November 4, 2011, in Hillsborough, NC. Born June 11, 1926, in Medina, NY, she was the daughter of the late Fred Samuel Hofert and Violet May (Flowers) Hofert. Gertrude married Vernon Donald Mose on January 1, 1950, at the Universalist Church in Middleport, N.Y. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage of over sixty years, until his passing February 12, 2010. She and Vernon spent their summers in Gasport, NY. Besides traveling, her favorite pastimes were reading (especially the funnies), watching movies, going to the beach, shopping and most of all spending time with her family. She was a great and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Gertrude had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. She will be sorely missed. Gertrude graduated from Keuka College with a bachelor’s degree, as a registered nurse. She worked at various hospitals as a charge nurse, and finally specialized in infection control and patient education at Humana/Daytona General Hospital in Daytona Beach. She is survived by her children, James Edward Mose (Cheryl), Thomas Alan Mose (Kitty), and Patricia Mose Deering (Mike). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Hayley Mose, Erika Mose Wagner (Casey), Melissa Mose Schlesinger (Philip), Rachel Mose, Amber Deering West (Gray), and Ryan Deering. Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, NY, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Jackie Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Boxwood Cemetery, Medina, NY. A luncheon will follow immediately after at Covenant United Church of Christ, Gasport, NY.
