Obituary of Gloria Jean Dix Gloria Jean Dix (Gilbert) age 76, of Waterport, was granted her angel wings on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born March 21, 1940 in Cortland, NY, Gloria is the daughter of the late: Leslie and Caroline (Tighe) Gilbert. Gloria married Howard A. Dix on December 20, 1958. He passed away on September 13, 2006. Gloria worked as a waitress at Lakeland Restaurant and Oak Orchard Yacht Club as well as several other area restaurants. She also was a clerk at Newberrys in Albion. Gloria was very creative. She loved to make quilts, many of which were donated to the Veterans and area nursing homes. She had a passion for music and loved to play the organ. Glorias favorite moments were spending time with her family. Surviving Gloria are her children: Howard (Margaret) Dix, Lorijean (Peter) Panek, Sheriann (Sonny) Dent, Deanna Lyn (Duffy) Plummer, Joni Dix and Jeffrey (Julie) Dix. Sister of Shirley Bruski and Joan Quackenbush. Cousin of: Carol Flood. Grandmother of: Charlie (Beth) Dix, Chris (Megan) Dix, Cody Dix, Shaun (Michele) Panek, Christopher (Kim) Panek, Joel (Nicole) Dent, Jeremy (Molly Burgess) Dent, Jared (Caroline) Dent, James (Shauna) Poler, Randi Lynne Poler, Aaron Long, Kelsi Dix, Kourtni Dix, Jenna Dix and Lyndsi Dix. Great grandmother of: Gavin, Ethan, Kendall, Bubba, Alice, Ellie, Collin, Kiera, Nathan, Savannah, Noah, Jimmy, Dominik, Adie and Cason. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousin and in-laws. Gloria is also predeceased by her brother: John Gilbert. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday at 11:00 am, at Merrill Grinnell Funeral Home, 12 Ingersoll Street, Albion, NY. Burial will be in West Ridgeway Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Orleans Hospice.
