Obituary of Harlan E. Harvey Mr. Harvey was a long time community leader and buisnessman in Orleans County. He was a graduate of the Class of 1932 at Honeoye High School. A year later he earned his teaching certificate from the Canandaigua Teachers Training Class. The certificate allowed him to teach for three years which he did at a one room rural school on Allens Hill in Ontario County. Mr. Harvey then embarked on a 33 year career with the Grange League Federation (G.L.F.) that later became Agway. Most of his career was spent managing the companys Albion operations that included a cold storage, feed storage and a cherry processing plant. In 1969 he took early retirement from Agway and purchased the Holley Cold Storage, a business which he ran for the next 13 years. He was very active in community affairs in the Albion area. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of Albion Rotary of which he served as its President during 1958-59. In 1963, he served as campaign director of the Eastern Orleans United Way. He was a member of the board of the former Arnold Gregory Hospital, the advisory board of the Albion Marine Midland Bank branch and the board of the Alliance Mutual Insurance Co. He was an active member of the Albion First United Methodist Church for 60 years. Mr. Harvey was also active in several agricultural and proffesional refrigerated warehousing organizations. He served as a director of the National Red Cherry Institute for a number of years.
