Obituary of Harry Delos Butler Kendall: Harry Delos Butler, age 86, died November 13, 2020 in Strong Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 31, 1933 in Kendall, New York to his late parents, Mae and Menzo Butler. He graduated from Kendall Central School in 1951. He went on to attend Alfred State Technical Institute, graduating with a degree in applied sciences. He was employed by Eastman Kodak in the Naval Ordinance Division and worked on the “Spy in the Sky”. He served in the U.S. Army as a SP 3C in Germany from 1955-1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy (Bancroft) Butler, in Frankfurt, Germany on March 2nd and 3rd. Harry returned to the states where he resumed working for Eastman Kodak. He continued his education graduating from the University of Rochester with a degree in Political Science. Harry had a zest for life. He enjoyed living on the original Butler farm property, outdoor activities, reading, shopping, watching sports, and spending time with family even when it meant driving to California to be with two of his daughters. He loved being involved in politics, was a proud Democrat and served two terms on the Kendall Town Board. Using his various chainsaws to groom his trees was his favorite pastime. He and his wife are known for their love of dancing together and have been referred to as “Fred” and “Ginger”. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Bancroft) Butler, three daughters, Rhonda (Doug) Steffen; Amy (Bud) Butler-Morgan; Daphne (Phil) Bremner, grandchildren, Rachael (Kent) Blair; Tiffany (Joe) Burke, Niome Vick, Andrew Bremner; great-granddaughter, Serina (Scott) Petry, great-great-grandsons, Hank Petry and soon to arrive, Waylon Petry, sister Margaret Skellen and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 State Route 31, Holley, NY 14470 on Tuesday, November 17th from 3:00-7:00pm where his Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00am. Interment with military honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Kendall. Please note the Funeral Home will be operating at 33% capacity per state guidelines.
