Obituary of Harry William McQueen Harry William McQueen age 96, of Gasport, NY, entered into rest peacefully on Saturday February 7, 2015, surrounded by his family at Niagara Hospice at Odd Fellow & Rebekah in Lockport NY. Harry was the son of Eva and Melvin McQueen and was born on April 25, 1918 in Hamilton Ontario Canada. He was married for 74 years to Harriet who passed on June 4th, 2014. He is survived by five children: William (Rose) McQueen of Middleport, Carol (John) Williams of Medina, Cheryl (Tony) Schepis of Lockport, Dawn (Michael) Duckworth of Medina and Janice (John) Brown of Lockport. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, a brother: Jack McQueen of Gasport and a sister-in-law: Betty Knisley of Gasport. Harry is predeceased by a brother: Donald and a sister: Leone. Harry joined the United States Navy in June of 1945 and was stationed in San Diego California. He received a Victory Medal while serving. In 1974 Harry retired after 37 years as a supervisor in the tool room for General Motors in Lockport, NY. Harry enjoyed bowling and playing cards, fishing and spending time with his family. He was well known and proud of his vegetable garden. He was a past commander and past treasurer of the American Legion Post 1253 of Gasport where was a member for 69 Years. Friends and relatives may call on February 12, 2015 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport. Funeral services will be held immediately following. Burial will be held in the spring at the Hartland Central Cemetery. Donations to the American Heart Association or Niagara Hospice would be appreciated.
