Obituary of Hazel Landis Psalm 116:15, Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Waterport: Hazel J. Landis age 87, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family August 16, 2014. Hazel had endless devotion to her family and was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and a friend to all. Hazel was born June 28, 1927 in N. Tonawanda NY, a daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Harber) Kagelmacher. She was a faithful member of the Walker Bible Baptist Church and the Yates Baptist Church. She was a licensed hairdresser for over 50 years in N. Tonawanda and Waterport. Her love of baseball lead to many travel experiences to see the game she loved. She taught ceramics and craft classes for many years. Hazel had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh.
She was predeceased by her son, Douglas Bennett, sister, Dorothy Burns. She is survived by her loving family, husband, Ken Landis; children, Karen (Bill) Noren, Audrey (Steve Rustay) Bennett, Jeffrey (Shari) Bennett, Kathryn (Jim) Barber, Paul (Terri) Bennett, Mark (Olga) Bennett, Sue (George) Sutliff, Mike (Betsy) Bennett; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter; brother, Harold Kagelmacher; nieces, nephews, cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, Inc. 21 W. Avenue Albion, Monday August 18, from 11:00-1:00, where her Funeral Service will follow at 1:00. Interment will be in Waterport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Walker Bible Baptist Church, 1425 Walker Lake Ontario Rd. Hilton NY 14468. Visitation
