Obituary of Irene G. Hammerick Irene G. Hammerick, 92, of Albion, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Villages of Orleans. Born on December 4, 1921, in W. Barre, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jay T. and Matilda (Wagner) Callard. Irene graduated from Holley High School in 1939 and in that same year was Apple Blossom Queen. On December 20, 1941, she married the late Charles "Charlie" Hammerick Sr. Irene worked at Gordis Hardware of Holley, retiring at the age of 70. She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Holley and she enjoyed cross stitching, crossword puzzles, flower arranging and ceramics. She is survived by children, Charles (Cindy) Hammerick Jr. of Barre, Susan (Jeff) Long of Lancaster, PA, son-in-law, Ray Coopenburg of Penfield, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Constance "Connie" (Donald) Gaines of Clarendon. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Coopenburg. There are no calling hours. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Mount Albion Cemetery on Rt. 31, Albion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Irene's name to: Hospice of Orleans Co. Or to: Clarendon Fire Dept.
