Obituary of James W. Ashbery (WATERPORT)
James w. Ashbery, age 83 of Gaines Waterport Road, died December 23, 2007 in Orchard Manor Nursing Home following a long illness. He was born November 4, 1924 in Farmington, NY to Thomas and Catherine(Brown)Ashbery and had lived in the area most of his life. James was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII serving as a SeaBee. Mr. Ashbery was also a member of Disciples United Methodist Church, the American Legion, the VFW, and the NRA. He was a former employee of Duffy Mott, as well as the New York State Canal Authority. Jim loved to work in his shop and did much wood carving since he retired.
