Obituary of James "Doc" Cotter Kent: James “Doc” Cotter, 81, passed away peacefully June 16, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. “Doc” was born June 10, 1936 in Rochester, NY a son of the late Andrew and Hilma (Mason) Cotter. Doc was a Licensed Physical Therapist and had offices in Medina and Brockport. He was also employed for many years by the New York State Department of Health. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Medina Council #651, St. Mary’s Archers Club and the Brockport B.P.O.E. Doc’s greatest passion was his family, especially attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts and plays. He was an avid St. John Fisher Women’s Softball fan and a Buffalo Sabres fanatic. Doc will also be remembered for his fantastic cooking abilities. Doc is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Jeff (Vicky) Cotter, David (Melissa) Cotter, Julia Bugbee, Paula (Randy) Knaak; step-children, Robert (Elizabeth) Nitzenberger, Ann (John) Steinmetz and Michael (Kim) Nitzenberger; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Wilkins and brother, Gene Cotter;many nieces, nephews, cousins andfriends. The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 W. Ave, Albion, Wednesday June 21, from 3:00-6:00. A Celebration of Doc’s Life will follow at Tillman’s Village Inn, 14369 Ridge Rd. Albion, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans, P.O. Box 489, Albion, NY 14411
